General Information About Studying at KIT<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t

The degree programs are full-time programs. This means that their standard duration of study is 6 semesters (Bachelor\u2019s) and 4 semesters (Master\u2019s), each designed to be worth 30 ECTS\/LP. ECTS (European Credit Transfer System, also known as credit points) indicate the intended scope of a course and are intended to reflect 30 hours each, encompassing lecture time, practical training, and preparation and follow-up work. Courses are organized into modules based on their subject matter. This results in a (calculated) workload of 900 hours per semester. While it is technically possible to work while studying, this is definitely not the intended arrangement.<\/p>

All degree programs include an orientation exam. Students must take this exam by the end of the second semester and complete it by the end of the third semester.<\/p>

Academic performance is divided into coursework and exam performance. Exam grades count toward the final grade and may be taken only twice before a student must take an oral makeup exam, which can be passed with a maximum grade of 4.0. Coursework does not count toward the final grade and may be repeated as often as desired.<\/p>

Assessments can take a variety of forms. These include written exams, oral exams, and other types of assessments. The latter often involve laboratory practicals, but may also include term papers.<\/p>

In many degree programs, interdisciplinary qualifications are part of the curriculum in addition to subject-specific coursework. In some cases, these are also required. Students may choose from a variety of interdisciplinary options, including courses offered by the House of Competence (HoC), the Center for Applied Cultural Studies and General Education (ZAK), or language courses at the Language Center.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
