During these blocks, students can take research modules, project modules, or field trips/seminars.
In addition, at the beginning of the master's program, you choose three areas in which you will then be able to take your master's modules.
In total, there are 12 fields, ranging from cell biology to botany, zoology, and toxicology.

Research modules, also known as F2s, are block-based elective modules that include a practicum phase and a course assessment. Students can select F2s at the beginning of the semester, and they are completed in one of the four blocks. Students are required to complete two F2s per selected area; a maximum of two F2s may be taken each semester.

Project modules, also known as F3s, are larger projects whose scope and duration are determined individually with the working group, meaning they are not bound by the block schedule. Students are required to complete one F3 in each of two selected areas; in other words, they must have completed two F3s by the end of the program.

It's best to choose the areas in which you've already completed your F2 or plan to take an F2. In addition to seminars—for example, on presentation skills or interdisciplinarity—you should take
part in a large-scale field trip, which takes place at set times during the summer.
A prerequisite for the field trip is the corresponding lecture.

Curriculum / Module Handbook / Examination Regulations

Bachelor Im Bachelorstudium beschäftigt man sich mit den Grundlagen der Biologie in den Bereichen Botanik, Zoologie, Mikrobiologie, Genetik, Evolution und Artenkonzepte.
