Mentoring

For First-Year Students

For Tutors

What is ExperiMentoring?

ExperiMentoring is designed to help bachelor’s students get off to a smooth start in their studies. We help students get to know their classmates and organize study groups. Throughout the first semester, we assist students in finding their way around campus and in Karlsruhe, organizing their studies, planning their time and study routines, developing academic study and work skills, and processing course material.

Students are divided into groups based on their respective degree programs and are supervised by a mentor from a higher semester. The mentors receive training before and during the semester from the House of Competence (HOC) to provide subject-specific guidance to first-year students, support them as they embark on this new phase of their lives, and provide them with valuable information that is relevant—both in terms of content and organization—to their transition into college.

This program was conceived based on the idea that every new student should be supported, not just struggling students. Thus, all first-semester students are warmly invited to participate in the ExperiMentoring program to network and also support one another.
